Days here are literal 24-hour days of watching without stopping. Nobody does that — the table below is the useful one.
At a realistic pace
Pick how much you watch in a day and this is how long the catch-up takes, at the full 24-minute runtime across all 1,174 episodes.
| Per day | Episodes/day | Days | Roughly |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 minutes | 1 | 940 | 2.6 years |
| 1 hour | 2 | 470 | 1.3 years |
| 2 hours | 5 | 235 | 7.7 months |
| 3 hours | 7 | 157 | 5.2 months |
| 5 hours | 12 | 94 | 3.1 months |
| 8 hours | 20 | 59 | 1.9 months |
| 12 hours | 30 | 40 | 1.3 months |
One caveat the arithmetic cannot show: the anime is still airing, at roughly one episode a week. Anything slower than about half an hour a day never catches up.
Skipping filler
91 episodes adapt no manga chapter at all. Cutting them saves roughly 36 hours and brings the total to 18 days, 1 hour, or 15 days, 1 hour with the openings skipped as well. Filler is classified through episode 1174, so treat that saving as a floor rather than a final number — the filler list has every run.
If you want the cut done for you, One Pace re-edits the series to remove filler and pacing padding entirely. It covers only the arcs it has finished, and it is one of the four routes compared on how to watch One Piece.
How this is calculated
- Episode count — 1,174, read from
mapping.coverage.airedThroughEpisode. The count is taken as the highest of three independent views of the data, so a source that lags by a week can make the total late but not wrong. - 24 minutes — the programme length of a half-hour broadcast slot once adverts are removed. This is a nominal figure: Toei publishes no per-episode runtime we can source, and individual episodes vary by a minute or two either way.
- 20 minutes — the same episode with the opening, ending, recap and next-episode preview skipped. Also nominal, and generous in your favour on recap-heavy episodes.
- Not included — the films, TV specials and OVAs. None of them is numbered as an episode, and none is required.
Data last checked . Both runtime figures are assumptions, stated here rather than buried, because a total to the minute would imply a precision nobody has published.
Frequently asked
Is it faster to read the manga? Considerably. The anime has adapted 1,144 chapters across the 1,174 episodes we have mapped — a little under two episodes per chapter. Most readers get through a chapter in well under ten minutes.
Where does the anime line up with the manga? The converter answers that in either direction, episode by episode.
Does the total include the new WIT Studio series? No. The One Piece is a separate remake with its own episode count, and it is not out yet.
