Why One Piece goes on break
There are two different reasons a week passes with no chapter, and they get confused constantly. The first is an author break — Eiichiro Oda takes a scheduled week off roughly once a month, which has been his working rhythm for years and is not a sign of anything wrong. The second is a magazine break: Weekly Shonen Jump publishes combined double issues around Japanese public holidays such as Golden Week and New Year, and when it does, every series in the magazine skips that week, not just One Piece.
This page tells you which of the two you are looking at, because "Oda is resting" and "the whole magazine is off" mean very different things for when the next chapter lands.
Which week does the answer mean?
The verdict above always describes the next scheduled release, not the one that has just gone by. If it says NO, a chapter is coming in the next issue; if it says YES, the next issue skips One Piece. The moment a chapter drops, the question rolls forward to the following week — so within an hour of a release the page is already answering about the week after.
The previous week is shown under the countdown as well, because those two answers are often different and the gap between them is where most of the confusion lives.
